Here at Shelton, we understand and impart not only the beauty of the English Language but also the cultural quirks and usage which are associated with the language in different parts of the world.

Shelton’s English programme adopts a step-by-step approach to mastering the English Language. It is aimed at raising the level of academic performance among international students who may be unaccustomed to educational courses that are delivered in English.

The programme equips students with the four essential skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. It comprises four levels, starting from Elementary, Intermediate, Upper–Intermediate and Advanced level.

The structured programme will enable students to cultivate their language skills, to significantly improve their writing skills with good grammar and help gain the ability to articulate the English language with good pronunciation. These skills will help facilitate the student’s entry to higher education programmes, universities or the international corporate arena.

A range of assessment methods are used to assess specific learning objectives. Students have to complete monthly tests, quarterly examinations, projects and assignments.

The aptitudes that students acquire throughout this programme help stand them in good stead and equip them to take internationally recognised English proficiency assessments such as International English Language Testing System (IELTS), the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and SAT.

Admission Criteria
Before commencing this preparatory programme, students have to sit for Shelton’s English Language Placement Test to determine their English Language proficiency.

Admission Criteria
‧ Minimum age of 16 years.
‧ Minimum 9 years of formal education (middle school) for those who did not finish high school.
‧ Minimum English language requirement of TOEFL 450 or IELTS 5 or score 60% in Shelton’s English Language Placement Test.
‧ Any other qualifications subject to Shelton’s Academic Board’s approval.

Course Duration:
The total course duration is 12 months with a maximum of 720 hours of tutor-led teaching and learning activity. Classes are conducted five days a week

Course Content & Learning Outcome
The Shelton's  Foundation program in business  is a preparatory program that aims to equip students for entry into their desired degree program.

The course  provides students with an appreciation of the theoretical issues currently involved in the study of high school and business stream with the relative interest in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality industry and  a range of practical skills which will enhance their understanding into the progressive pathway to Bachelors program.

On completion of the one year  foundation program in business students can proceed to pursue their Shelton Diploma in Business Administration, Shelton Diploma in Travel Tourism and Hospitality and  Shelton Double Diploma in Business Administration and Travel,Tourism and Hospitality and Shelton Diploma in Mass Communication.
